response to a query about the ban on alcohol and crime rates.

    Digital Desk: BJP MLA
from Chhattisgarh, Dr Krishnamurti Bandhi, advised using bhang or cannabis
instead of alcohol because people who consume bhang are less likely to commit
serious offences like rape, murder, and dacoity.

    An argument broke out
over the MLA's remark when a leader of the ruling Congress party began to
    interrogate the MLA.

    According to reports
from PTI, the Congress leader questioned how a public figure could support an
    addiction.

    According to the
state's chief minister, the MLA must propose the idea to the federal government
if they want cannabis to be legalised nationwide.

    An official stated
that while the sale and consumption of cannabis are prohibited under the
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, bhang, an edible concoction
created with cannabis plant leaves, is legal.

    The MLA made the claim
in response to a query about the ban on alcohol and crime rates.

    He responded, "It
is my own perspective and I have previously discussed it in the Assembly. I
knew that somewhere, drinking leads to rape, murder, and arguments, but I still
inquired. Tell me if anyone who uses bhang has ever been involved in rape,
    murder, or dacoity?"
