PM Modi presented the Dokra boat from Chhattisgarh to Crown Prince Fredrik of Denmark.

PM Narendra Modi gifted a Dokra boat from Chhattisgarh to HRH Crown Prince Fredrik of Denmark. Dhokra, also spelled as Dokra, is non–ferrous metal casting using the lost-wax casting technique. This metal casting has been used in India for over 4,000 years and is still used.

There are two main processes of lost wax casting: solid casting and hollow casting. The product of artisans mainly from Central and Eastern India is in great demand in domestic and foreign markets because of their primitive simplicity, enchanting folk motifs, and forceful form.

Rogan painting from Gujarat to Queen Margrethe

The PM also presented HM Queen Margrethe with a Rogan painting from Gujarat. A Rogan painting is a type of cloth printing practiced in Gujarat's Kutch District.

Paint made from boiled oil and vegetable dyes is applied to fabric with either a metal block (printing) or a stylus in this craft (painting). The craft nearly died out in the late twentieth century, with only one family practicing Rogan painting. 'Rogan' is a Persian word that means varnish or oil. The Khatris, a community in Kutch, Gujarat, pioneered the application of this oil-based paint to fabric.

Making a Rogan painting is a time-consuming and skilled process. Artists rub a small amount of this paint paste between their palms. The paint is carefully twisted into motifs and images at room temperature using a metal rod that never comes into contact with the fabric. The artisan then folds his designs into a blank fabric, printing its mirror image.

Silver Meenakari Bird figure from Benaras to Crown Princess Mary

Crown Princess Mary received a silver Meenakari Bird figure from Banaras from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The art of silver enameling practiced in Benaras (Varanasi) dates back nearly 500 years. The art derives from Meenakari's Persian art (Meena is the Persian word for glass).

The use of pink color in various shades on various products is the most distinguishing feature of Banaras meenakari. The base is a silver sheet mounted on a metallic base. The sheet fixed to the base mold is lightly beaten to obtain a fitting form of the mold. The preliminary product is spliced from the mold and deftly joined. A metallic pen is used to create a design on this.

The 'Meena' is ground to a fine powder and mixed in water with pomegranate seeds. It is then applied to various parts of the product with a flat metallic tool known as a 'qalam.' The finished item is embellished with semi-precious stones and pearls.

Brass Tree of Life from Rajasthan to PM of Finland

PM Modi presented the Tree of Life to his Finnish counterpart. The Tree of Life represents the evolution and growth of life. A tree's branches grow and develop upwards, containing various life forms representing inclusiveness.

This handcrafted brass wall decorative art piece depicting the 'Tree of Life' exemplifies India's excellent craftsmanship and rich tradition. The tree's roots connect to the earth, the leaves and birds represent life, and the candle stand represents light.

PM gifts' Dhaal' with Koftgiri craftwork from Rajasthan to PM of Norway

The Prime Minister of Norway received a 'Dhaal' with Koftgiri art from Rajasthan from the Prime Minister of Norway.

Tarkashi (Koftgiri) on metal is a traditional Rajasthani art form used to decorate Arms and Armour. It is now used to decorate objects such as picture frames, boxes, walking sticks, decorative swords, daggers, and war accessories such as shields. The inlay work with silver and gold wires is known as koftgiri.

The purpose of koftgiri craft is to enhance the surface of the metal from which the article is made. The base metal mix three different types of iron (soft, hard and high).

The layers of these three types of iron are hammered together until they are completely mixed, and then one base metal is formed, from which blades of various shapes are formed, and this blade is dipped into a solution of three herbs, bringing out the design engraved on the blade. Finally, the blade is polished with very fine paper.

PM gifts a wall hanging with Kutch embroidery to PM of Denmark

Narendra Modi presented Denmark's Prime Minister with a valuable wall hanging embroidered with Kutch embroidery. Kutch Embroidery is a handicraft and textile signature art tradition of the Kutch tribal community in Gujarat, India. With its intricate designs, this embroidery has contributed to Indian embroidery traditions.

Women typically do embroidery on cotton fabric in the form of a net with various silk or cotton threads. Some patterns are also created on silk and satin. "square chain, double buttonhole, pattern darning, running stitch, satin, and straight stitches" are used. When small mirrors called 'abhla' are sewn over the geometrically shaped designs, the signature effect of the colorful embroidery sparkles.
