FIR against BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma for remarks on Prophet Muhammad

After the video of her remarks during a TV debate on the Gyanvapi mosque case went viral, Nupur claimed the video was heavily edited.

Digital Desk: National spokesperson of Bhartiya Janta Party, Nupur Sharma, was arrested over remarks on Prophet Muhammad during a television debate.

According to reports, a case has been registered at the Pydhonie Police Station area in Mumbai under sections 295A, 153A, and 505B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after a complaint filed by Raza Academy, a Sunni Barelvi organisation of Indian Sunni Muslims, for her "remarks on the Holy Prophet on a National channel," ANI reported.

However, after the video of her remarks during a TV debate on the Gyanvapi mosque case went viral, Nupur claimed the video was heavily edited.

"A so-called fact-checker has begun to poison the atmosphere by releasing a heavily edited and selected footage from one of my debates from last night. Since then, I've been receiving murder and rape threats, as well as threats to behead me and my family members ", the spokesperson added.

"I have taken some threats and tagged the Police Commissioner and Delhi Police. I believe that harm will be done to my close family members and me. If any harm is caused to me or my family, Mohammed Zubair, who I believe is the owner of Alt News, is solely liable," She added.

On the other hand, Mohammed Zubair has dismissed the allegation about him posting a doctored clip from the debate to target Nupur while alleging that the original video was made private, "a day after the BJP spokesperson alleged that the original video was private. I 'heavily edited' the video." "We've downloaded the full video though," he tweeted.

It may be mentioned that Nupur Sharma earlier stated that she is compiling a list of all threats made against her and will file a complaint.

In retaliation, Zubair has shared screenshots of hateful messages directed at him and his family during the brawl.
