Following Sidhu Moosewala's murder, two wanted men shot dead during an encounter in Punjab

The police claim that Manpreet Manu and Jagdeep Rupa were the first to approach Moosewala's vehicle and start shooting at it.

Digital Desk: The two most wanted men in the nearly two-month-old murder of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu Moosewala were shot dead in an encounter with Punjab Police near the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar district on Wednesday, officials said.

According to officials, three police officers and a cameraman were also injured in the nearly five-hour-long altercation, though their injuries were not life-threatening.

Manpreet Manu and Jagdeep Rupa were identified as the victims by police. They identified the two as members of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang, which allegedly supplied sharpshooters to main accused Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with the Moosewala murder.

According to Promod Ban, ADGP of the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), "In an encounter, Manpreet Manu and Jagdeep Bhai Rupa were killed. Both were pursued after the murder of Sidhu Moosewala," he stated.

The police reportedly cornered Manu and Rupa after taking refuge in a small home in the middle of farm fields close to Bhakna village, about 14 kilometres from the border. An officer claimed, "They were asked to surrender but fired at the police instead."

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav arrived at the scene of the incident, where police later recovered an AK-47, a pistol, and a bag. The injured have not been identified, but one officer was shot in the thigh, another in the chest, and a third near the eye, according to the police.

Manu and Rupa had been on the run since the Moosewala killing and had recently returned to Punjab from Rajasthan, according to police. They referred to a CCTV image of the two on a bike in Tarn Taran that had surfaced on social media a few days earlier.

According to the officers, the encounter killings on Wednesday leave only one more suspect, Deepak Mundi, to be apprehended in the case.

Officers stated that Manu and Rupa were part of one of "two modules" involved in the May 29 attack on Moosewala at Jawahar Ke village near his home in Mansa district.

Days after Moosewala was killed, the Delhi Police Special Cell arrested Bishnoi in an MCOCA case and made other key arrests. Priyavrat, Kashish, and Ankit Sirsa have been described as "shooters," and Keshav Kumar as the link who provided the gunmen with vehicles and assisted them in escaping.

According to Punjab Police, information obtained from Manu and Rupa's aides was also crucial in locating the two. On Monday, the aide, Parmdalip Singh, was arrested in a robbery case.

The house where the two accused were cooped up belongs to a local resident named Balwinder Singh, who lives near the village of Bhakna. "Around 10.15 a.m., three or four people arrived at the house in two cars." "The police arrived after about five minutes," said Gurbhej Singh of Bhakna village, who was working on a fodder cutting machine near the encounter site.

According to ADGP Ban, police are investigating whether the house owner had any ties to the accused.
