In the wake of the ED's investigation into the National Herald case, Congress summons DCP Rakesh Asthana.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, a Congress leader and the chairperson of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC), has summoned Delhi's top cop to appear before Parliament at 10.30 a.m. today.

Digital Desk: The Congress party on Wednesday exempted Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana from a meeting held by senior leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in the wake of the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) inquiry into the National Herald issue.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, a Congress leader and the chairperson of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC), has summoned Delhi's top cop to appear before Parliament at 10.30 a.m. today.

"Last night, CP (Rakesh Asthana) wrote to me, saying that the law and order situation in Delhi is bad. As a result, he should be given an exception. I had a conversation with my officer. If an officer fails to appear, he is required to explain why. Yes, he did. So I suggested, "Let's contact him later," and I did "AR Chowdhury believes so.

"The CAG made various criticisms of the Delhi Police. As a result, I believe it is necessary to contact the relevant officials and further clarify this prior to their assessment. This is in accordance with the guidelines "He went on to say.

This came after Chowdhury and several other prominent Congress leaders were arrested by Delhi police while protesting the ED's summons issued to Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case.

For the third day in a row, Rahul Gandhi returned to the Enforcement Directorate's ongoing probe into an alleged money laundering case involving the National Herald newspaper.

Since Monday, when he was deposed in front of the ED investigators in the matter for the first time, he has been questioned for nearly 20 hours.

According to official sources, the Congress leader, who became a Z category Central Reserve Police Force protectee after the Union government revoked the Gandhi family's Special Protection Group cover in 2019, has been confronted with several documents gathered by the ED as evidence recovered so far in the case in order to get his version of events.

According to sources, Rahul Gandhi has been questioned extensively regarding the Gandhi family's ownership of Young Indian Private Limited (YIL) and its shareholding pattern in Associated Journals Limited (AJL), the firm that publishes the National Herald daily.
