Indian Air Force Day (IAF) Commemorates its 92nd Anniversary.

Saluting the guardians of Indian skies and protecting the nation with pride…

Digital Desk: The Indian Air Force Day is celebrated
every year on 8October, to pay homage to the Indian Air Force team,
who sacrificed their life for the country. This day also marks the formation of
the IAF which came into existence in 1932.

This year, Indian Air Force Day, carries the theme "Bharatiya Vayusena: “Saksham, Sashakt aur Aatmnirbhar” (Potent, Powerful, and Self-Reliant). This theme reflects the fact that IAF has not handed over the indigenization and modernization of India’s defense vision to any other entity.

The Indian Air Force can be dated back to British India, started as a supporting air force. The functional Air Force operation began with the first flight on April 1, 1933. Since then, it has been involved in wars and conflicts and has helped in supplying humanitarian aid during natural disasters. Besides, the IAF is not only a defender against external threats but also involved in search and rescue operations during disasters and other humanitarian operations, national as well as international. Over the years, IAF was improved and expanded more, thus becoming one of the most strong and high-technical air forces in the world.

This day is celebrated through a parade, aerial display, and flying displays. Performances with arrows and parachuting by skydivers and helicopters, and fighter planes captivate the viewers. It also demonstrates IAF operations and the latest technologies. The celebrations also seek to encourage young people in India to join the IAF, especially through recruitment so as to enhance the force through intensive training with an eye on the future endeavors that are likely to be encountered.
