IRCTC modifies criteria for Aadhaar-linked user IDs, allowing for the purchase of 24 tickets.

     Digital
Desk: People whose Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC)
user IDs are linked to Aadhaar can now book a maximum of 24 tickets per month,
while those whose IDs are not linked to Aadhaar can purchase up to 12 tickets
per month, according to the Indian Railways.

    Previously,
IRCTC users with accounts that were not linked to Aadhar could book a maximum
of six tickets, while those with accounts that were linked to Aadhar could book
    a maximum of 12.

    The
Ministry of Railways claimed in a statement that the decision was made to
"assist travellers" throughout the ticketing procedure.

    One
of the people whose tickets are among the 24 to be booked must, however, be
    Aadhar verified.

    "At
present, a user ID that is not Aadhaar linked can book a maximum of six tickets
per month on the IRCTC website or application, and a user ID that is Aadhaar
linked can book a maximum of 12 tickets per month on the IRCTC website/app if
one of the passengers in the ticket to be booked is verifiable through
Aadhaar," the Railways said in a statement.

    Officials
from the Indian Railways informed that the move will benefit frequent
travellers as well as those who use the same IRCTC account to book train
    tickets for family members.
