Digital Desk: Two explosions occurred in two parked buses
in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur city within eight hours, injuring two people.
According to a police official, the first explosion occurred at around 10:30
p.m. yesterday in a parked bus near a petrol pump in Domail Chowk, Udhampur.
background:#F8F9FA">Two people were injured, but the bus's windows and front
glass were completely shattered, as seen on CCTV footage from a nearby shop.
background:#F8F9FA">Local Jammu Police rushed to the scene to assess the
situation and gather more information about the explosion and CCTV footage to
determine who was responsible for the attack. Around 6 a.m., another blast
occurred in a parked bus at Old Udhampur Bus Station in the hill station.
According to a police official, no casualties were reported in the blast
because it occurred early in the morning when the hill city experiences the
morning rush from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m.
background:#F8F9FA">The Jammu Police have launched an investigation into the
twin blasts in the city, which have made the people of Udhampur vulnerable, and
have increased security in the region to prevent future such nefarious
activities. A similar incident occurred earlier this year in March in Slathia
Chowk, Udhampur, when a low-intensity IED blast killed one person and injured
14 others.
According to new reports, the investigation into the twin
blasts case is likely to be handed over to the National Investigation Agency
(NIA), despite the fact that the Defence Ministry has dispatched a team of
elite NIA officers to Jammu and Kashmir. The team will most likely be in charge
of all documents related to the explosion obtained from the local police.
