Desk: Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party and the
Chief Minister of Delhi, was arguing angrily with the state police over supper at the residence of an auto-rickshaw driver in Ahmedabad while on a
two-day visit to Gujarat, which is going to the polls. The AAP leader lambasted
the police official, claiming that he didn't require police security for
visiting the public, after they prevented Kejriwal from departing in an
automobile, citing security concerns. Kejriwal became irate and retorted that
if the police wanted to check his movements and forcefully provide security for
him that would be equivalent to arresting him.
"I have told you in writing that I
don't require your security. But you won't let me interact with the general
public. Will this work? You are arresting me by obtrusively giving me security.
In the video shared by the Gujarat party unit, Kejriwal can be seen arguing
with the cops, saying, "You can't do that.
After giving a speech to an assembly of
autowalas on Monday in Ahmedabad, one of the attendees, Vikram Dantani, asked
Kejriwal to his house for supper.
"I really enjoy your work. I saw in a
video uploaded on social media that you had dinner at the Punjabi home of an
auto driver. Will you also join me for dinner at my home? “Dantani enquired.
Kejriwal accepted Dantani's offer and
mentioned how much support he has received from Gujarati and Punjabi car
drivers. Should I arrive at your home at 8 o'clock? ", Kejriwal enquired.
Kejriwal was eventually let to leave after
the intense altercation on the way to Dantani's house. One officer sat next to
the car's driver, and the other five followed the three-wheeler in two police
cars.
Days prior to this occurrence, the party
claimed that the Gujarat Police had "illegally" searched its
Ahmedabad-based Gujarat party office. Despite the city police's denial of the
AAP's claims of a raid, Kejriwal claimed that the BJP is concerned about the
AAP's expanding support.
