Manage the Economy, Not the Headlines: Rahul Gandhi advises PM Modi
Meanwhile, many Congressmen used the occasion to criticize the BJP government for the falling rupee rates.

Digital Desk: After the Indian rupee fell on Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “managing media headlines” and failing to focus on the country’s financial stability.

As the Indian rupee fell to an all-time low on May 9, trading over 77.40  against the dollar, Rahul Gandhi made a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but he deviated from other Congress leaders by pointing out some benefits of the situation.

On Twitter, Gandhi wrote, “Modi ji, you used to criticise Manmohan ji when rupee fell. Now rupee is at its lowest ever value. But I won’t criticise you blindly. A falling ₹ is good for exports provided we support exporters with capital and help create jobs. Focus on managing our economy, not media headlines.”

Furthermore, the Congress leader advised Prime Minister Narendra Modi to acknowledge the economic problem and begin working on solutions rather than creating “public relations distractions.” Meanwhile, many Congressmen used the occasion to criticize the BJP government for the falling rupee rates.

The Indian rupee has fallen against the US dollar for the eighth week in a row, reducing the country’s foreign reserves to USD 597.728 billion. Notably, the rupee fell following the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The Congress party criticized the BJP-led government over the rupee’s slide on its official social media accounts, claiming that it had entered ICU (intensive care unit). Moreover, the Congress party blasted PM Modi by tweeting a video of him.

Taking to Twitter, Congress said, “Rupee hits ALL-TIME LOW, trading beyond 77.20 per dollar! As gloom & dismay engulfs the nation, former CM of Gujarat hits out strongly at the Prime Minister & his government.”

Meanwhile, Congress general secretary and chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala Tweeted, “Under the Modi Government, Indian rupee is in ICU. Under the Modi Government Indian rupee has crossed the age of ‘Margdarshak Mandal’ of BJP. Under the Modi Government Indian rupee has fallen even beyond the age of Prime Minister and what are the reasons for the same.”
