Digital Desk: Ujjain MP Anil Firojiya claims to have lost 32 kg in response to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari's challenge.

Firojiya's weight loss program began after Gadkari openly mocked him about his size in February and publicly promised him Rs 1000 crore for development work in his constituency for each kilo lost.

"I made a condition for allocating funds to Firojiya ji. Once my weight was 135 kg more than that of Firojiya ji. But now my weight is 93 kg. I showed him my old photograph. It is hard to recognize me in that photo. I will allocate Rs 1,000 crore for each kg he loses," Gadkari had said then at a public event.

Firojiya said, "I accepted the challenge and I shed about 32 kg."

The challenge was issued when Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 'Fit India' movement, and Firojiya claimed he had lost 15 kilos by June and a total of 32 by now.

"If losing weight results in a higher budget allocation for Ujjain, I am willing to continue my fitness regime for the constituency's development," Firojiya stated.

Firojiya claimed he followed a rigid diet plan to lose weight.

"I wake up at 5.30 in the morning and then go for a morning walk. My morning workout includes running, exercise and yoga. I follow an Ayurvedic diet chart. I take a light breakfast. For lunch and dinner, I eat salad, one bowl of green vegetables and one roti made up of mixed cereals. Occasionally I take carrot soup or dry fruits in between," he said.

Firojiya stated that he met with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and informed him of his weight loss, after which he was allocated development plans worth Rs 2,300 crores for the region.
