Observing World Food Safety Day 2022: Check out its history, significance and its Yearly theme

World Food Safety Day is an annual event extending awareness and boosting people to take action to stop, remember, and control foodborne ailments and enhance human health.

Digital Desk: Food is the most vital component of everyone's existence. "We are what we eat," as the saying goes, and the world celebrates Food Safety Day on June 7.

The event is held every year to raise awareness and motivate people to take action to help prevent, identify, and manage foodborne illness and enhance human health.

History of World Food Safety Day

The United Nations established World Food Safety Day in 2018 to raise awareness about food safety.

Year after year, we saw many initiatives that helped increase the public's awareness of food safety, remarked as a great achievement, according to the World Health Organisation.

    World Food Safety Day's Importance

Foodborne illnesses can range in severity from mild to severe, and they can even be fatal. In addition, they contribute to school and work absenteeism and lower productivity from a social standpoint.

Everyone has a vital role in making people aware of food safety, whether you grow, process, transport, store, sell, buy, prepare, or serve food.

We can thoroughly benefit from the nutritious content of food and the mental and social benefits of sharing a safe meal if it is unassailable. Therefore, one of the most important determinants of good health is the availability of safe food.

The theme of the 2022 World Food Safety Day

As WHO has announced the theme, this year's concept reads 'Safer food, better health' for World Food Safety Day 2022.
