Digital Desk: According to police, a devotee at the Maa Sheetla
temple in this city sliced off his tongue and donated it to the main deity.
Sampat, a 38-year-old native of Kaushambi who is the devotee,
has been admitted to the district hospital and is in critical condition,
according to the sources.
After bathing in the Ganga River, Sampat and his wife Banno Devi
made their way to the temple where they offered worship. He cut his tongue with
a knife and placed it at the temple's "chaukhat" (door frame) after
completing the "parikrama," according to Station House Officer of
Karha Dhaam police station Abhilash Tiwari.
According to Devi, her husband had mentioned wanting to go to
the temple on Friday night.
