    PM Modi, Amit Shah extend wishes as Droupadi Murmu takes charge as President
    In Parliament's Central Hall, she took the oath. After the oath-taking ceremony, she was given a ceremonial salute in the Rashtrapati Bhavan's forecourt.

    Digital Desk: Soon after Droupadi Murmu was sworn in as the 15th President of India on Monday wishes and greetings poured in from the political fraternity.

    She is the second female to be elected as the country's president and the first tribal woman to hold the highest constitutional position in India.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first to send his best wishes, writing on Twitter that it was a turning point for India, particularly for the impoverished, marginalised, and underprivileged.

    He posted on Twitter, saying, "The entire nation watched with pride as Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji took oath as the President of India. Her assuming the Presidency is a watershed moment for India especially for the poor, marginalised and downtrodden. I wish her the very best for a fruitful Presidential tenure."

    Moreover, Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the newly-elected President. 

    He said in a tweet in Hindi, "Heartfelt congratulations to Smt Draupadi Murmu ji on taking the oath of office as India's 15th president. I have no doubt that during your administration,  national pride will reach unprecedented heights. The historic day of today is a beautiful illustration of democratic empowerment in action."

    The defence minister Rajnath Singh referred to this day as a notable one in the history of the Indian Republic.

    He tweeted, "Congratulations to Smt. Droupadi Murmu ji on taking oath as the 15th President of India. It is a remarkable day in the history of Indian Republic. I am confident that her rich legislative and administrative experience will benefit the nation. Best wishes for a fruitful tenure."

    Meanwhile, BJP President JP Nadda congratulated the newly elected President Murmu and wrote on Twitter, "My heartiest congratulations & best wishes to Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji for being sworn-in as the 15th President of India. Her first address to the nation as “People’s President”

    Union Law Minister and former Sports Minister, Kiren Rijiju said, "Congratulations to Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji on taking oath as the 15th President of India. The nation is proud to have her as the President of the Republic of India."

    Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said in a tweet in Hindi, "The quintessential symbol of women empowerment, Draupadi Murmu ji was honored as the 15th President of India. Hearty congratulations on being sworn in as President."

    In her address to the nation, Droupadi Murmu noted that she is the first President to have been born in independent India and that the nomination of this woman shows that even the country's underprivileged may dream and achieve their goals. She said, "I want all sisters and daughters to be more empowered as they continue to grow their contribution in every profession," when discussing the empowerment of women.
