The
tragedy was discovered on Tuesday after an informer alerted the police to a car
with a woman's body travelling around the lonely Nevali area near Kalyan.
Police raced to the scene, discovered a dead body in the automobile, and
brought her to Ulhasnagar's Central Hospital before seizing the vehicle.
"The constable was in an extramarital affair with the woman
for many years," said Ranjit Dhere, senior police inspector of Hill Line
police station. During the initial investigation, the accused claimed that she
was constantly demanding money and that he leave his family and remain with
her. As a result, the constable became enraged and vowed to murder her. He
summoned her for a stroll and strangled her to death in the moving
vehicle."
Panicked, he sought out a deserted location to bury the body. He
didn't locate any until the evening of June 14th. “He sought assistance from
his brother-in-law in order to dispose of the body. He called another person
and gave him the job. The said person informed us about the incident,” he
added.
Both the accused were
produced in court and remanded to police custody till June 18.
