Supreme Court granted the request of an Unnao rape victim who wanted her case to be moved from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi.
Digital Desk: The Supreme Court granted the petition of the Unnao rape victim on Friday, allowing the case against her to be moved from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi.
A case that is ongoing in court in the Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh has been requested to be transferred to Delhi by the Unnao survivor. The father of one of the defendants filed the complaint and claimed that the survivor gave the police a fake proof of age document.
The petition claims that the ACJM court in Unnao issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) on the survivor.
Soutik Banerjee and Advocate Vrinda Grover defended the Unnao survivor.
The Supreme Court transferred the case from an Uttar Pradesh trial court to Delhi on August 1, 2019. Senger was convicted and sentenced to life in prison in a separate case in December 2019 for raping the woman in Unnao in 2017 when she was a minor.
Previously, a Rouse Avenue court in Delhi released former MLA Kuldeep Singh Senger in the 2019 accident case of an Unnao rape survivor.
