Digital Desk: A deadly accident occurred on the Ri-Bhoi District road traffic accident on NH-06, Umlyngkdait at 12:05 AM on 7th April, 2025 that resulted in death of two people. The Officials received information about the accident from a reliable source at 12:22 AM and a team was dispatched to the location.
Upon conducting the inquiry, it was revealed that Shri Robi Paswan around 30 years
drove a Maruti Alto 800 vehicle with registration number ML05R8598, a resident of Lumparing in East Khasi Hills Shillong.
26year old Shri Prakash, S/o Probir KR Dutta R/o H No.64/1 PK Building 8th Main Road Vasanthanagar Bangalore North, Bangalore, was travelling with Robi Paswan as his passenger while traveling from Shillong to Guwahati in a Maruti Alto 800. The identification of Prakash occurred after officials found his driving license at the accident site. The vehicle was travelling from Shillong toward the direction of Guwahati before the collision happened at the designated location where it hit the rear portion of an unidentified truck. The truck fled the scene immediately after the collision.
The impact of the collision generated severe consequences that wrecked the entire Maruti Alto 800 vehicle. Robi Paswan, was driving the vehicle when he and Prakash met their fatal deaths in the hills of Northeast India . Following the incident, all necessary legal procedures were followed. A Unit Gypsy transported the deceased victims to the Emergency Room of Civil Hospital Nongpoh before they were taken to the Morque Room for additional formalities. Meanwhile, the wrecked Maruti Alto was towed to the Nongpoh Police Station service road for safekeeping and further investigation.
The authorities are continuing their efforts to identify the truck responsible for the accident to initiate proper law enforcement steps.
