    Scam Alert: Tamannaah Bhatia's alleged Involvement in Money Laundering Case

    Digital Desk: Oct 17, 2024 Thursday, Bollywood Actress Tamannaah  Bhatia was summoned by the Enforcement Department (ED) in Guwahati for an interrogation on being allegedly involved in an online betting app scam.



    Tamannaah was grilled by the ED Assistant Director Ram Dixit for promoting the illegal online gaming betting app Mahadev. Through this app, individuals can bet on live games such as Tennis, Badminton, Cricket, Poker, and many others. Earlier, this app was also held responsible for streaming IPL tournaments illicitly, and it was known for its major scam involving a sum worth nearly Rs.15,000 crore. 



    Famous Bollywood celebrities Shraddha Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor were also interrogated in 2023 for appearing in the Ads of the Mahadev betting app. Tamannaah Bhatia promoted the FairPlay app, which was linked to the Mahadev online betting app.  



    The Guwahati ED department questioned the actress for 4 hours including three major branches, the Cyber Cell, IT Cell and Crime Cell being present at the time. Reportedly the actress named eight other high profile people names. Many investigators were scammed after investing in this mobile app.



    The ED department filed a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and IT Act. On investigation, it was revealed that the app was operated from China and assets worth Rs.455 crore were seized from the app.
