Self-claimed 'BJP Neta' Shrikant Tyagi arrested by UP Police near Noida
Shrikant Tyagi, a self-proclaimed BJP 'neta,' was apprehended by UP Police near Noida after allegedly abusing and assaulting a woman at Grand Omaxe in Noida's Sector 93.

Digital Desk: Shrikant Tyagi, a self-proclaimed BJP 'neta,' was apprehended by Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday after allegedly abusing and assaulting a woman at the Grand Omaxe Housing Society in Noida's Sector 93. According to reports, Tyagi was apprehended by cops near Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

The arrest comes just days after his lawyer requested surrender-related procedures in a local court in the Gautam Buddh Nagar district.

Regarding the planting of trees next to his unit, Tyagi is accused of harassing and assaulting a woman who lives in his Grand Omaxe Housing Society in Noida's Sector 93. All efforts were made to apprehend him after it was discovered that he was hiding someplace in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.

Prior to now, sources with the UP Police claimed that Shrikant had fled from Noida to Uttarakhand and that his last known whereabouts were somewhere between Haridwar and Rishikesh.

The Noida Police announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for information leading to the capture of the evading pretend politician. Several squads of the Noida Police were reportedly working together to pinpoint the absconding accused's position as part of a serious operation to capture him.

Following an altercation with a fellow housing society resident, Tyagi was on Friday charged under Indian Penal Code section 354 (assault or use of criminal force on any woman).

The woman had complained that Tyagi had broken the rules by planting some trees in the common area of the community. He asserted that he had every right to do so. Residents of the community asserted that he was utilizing the communal area as his property.

The government of Uttar Pradesh demolished unauthorized construction outside the politician's ground-floor residence on Monday using a bulldozer.

The state government also imprisoned six of Tyagi's close associates who broke into the Grand Omaxe community in Sector 93B on Sunday night and suspended six additional police officers for suspected negligence in the case.

Sources assert that Tyagi utilized several social media images of himself with prominent politicians, including Swatantra Dev Singh and BJP leader JP Nadda, for his own political gain.

The government denies Tyagi's assertions that he is a national executive member of the BJP's Kisan Morcha and national coordinator of its Yuva Samiti. He identifies as a BJP employee on his unconfirmed Twitter account, which is currently closed to the public.
