Desk: The Allahabad high court ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to respond
to a plea about the deaths of 25 individuals who drank booze in Azamgarh in May
2021 within two weeks after holding it responsible for paying compensation for
deaths brought on by the use of fake whiskey.

It was stated that the customers bought the alcohol from
authorised retail rural liquor stores, which offered them booze under a brand
name. The matter was scheduled for hearing on September 19 by the court.
The licenced vendor was allegedly one of those involved in
the production and distribution of hazardous liquor, which caused fatalities or
permanent vision loss, according to the charge sheet submitted in the case in
August 2021.
According to the report, the consumers purchased the alcohol
from licenced retail rural liquor outlets that provided them with alcohol sold
under a particular brand name. The court set September 19 for a hearing on the
issue.

preparation and sale of dangerous alcohol, which resulted in fatalities or
irreversible visual loss.
