New Delhi : After fighting a prolonged political illness due to comprehensive defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi finally gave his resignation and stepped down from his post of Congress President staying adamant on his decision since his party’s defeat.
Though he has stepped down as the party’s supremo, yet it seems he will continue to spearhead his party’s ideological battle against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the RSS.
Rahul Gandhi will be travelling to Mumbai in a murder case of journalist Gauri Lankesh where a defamation case was filed against Rahul for linking RSS with the murder of the journalist.
His itinerary also includes a court hearing in Gujarat in a defamation case filed against Rahul by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi for making this statement that “all thieves have Modi in their surnames”.
After announcing his resignation from his party’s president yesterday, Rahul Gandhi posted a four page letter on his official Twitter handle where he gave his gratitude to his party members for standing with him both in good and bad times. He also added in the letter that the party’s loss in the recently held Lok Sabha elections should not be blamed only on a few but he should be held equally accountable for the loss as his contribution to the party’s performance should not be ignored.
Rahul had decided to step down from the post of party’s prez since their loss which has attracted widespread rejection from his party workers, members. His decision was unanimously rejetce by the CWC where the party workers had also sat on a Dharna revoking his decision terming the decision as a suicide attempt for the party.
With his resignation, the opposition is now without a leader and have to immediately look for a leader.
