Digital Desk: A family in Uttar Pradesh organized a special "terahvin" in honour of their beloved rooster, who passed away while defending his owner's newborn lamb from a stray dog. The unusual incident was reported from the Pratapgarh district's Behdaul Kala village, which is under the jurisdiction of the Fatanpur police station.

The deceased rooster, Lali, died 13 days ago while attempting to save his owner's lamb from a street dog.

Around 500 people gathered for the 'terahvin' to pray for the soul of heroic Lali.

Lali's owner, Dr Salkram Saroj, stated that the lamb was in his backyard on July 7 when the street dog attacked the lamb.

"My family members were on the front side of the house when they heard a noise coming from the backyard. They rushed to the site and saw a street dog in the backyard," Saroj said.

"As the dog attacked the lamb, Lali went to his rescue and began fighting with the dog. While chasing the dog away, more dogs attacked Lali and severely hurt him. Lali passed away from her wounds on July 8," Saroj added.

"We buried him close to the house and conducted the rites that are traditionally done after a family member passes away,"

"While doing the rites, my father suggested that we should conduct terahvin as well, to which everyone agreed in the family," Abhishek added.
