    US Trying To Destabilise India During Lok Sabha Polls, Russia Accused United States

    The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, stated that the US lacks understanding of India's national mentality


    Digital Desk: According to the news reports, Russia has accused the United States of trying to destabilize India during the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.


    The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, stated that the US lacks understanding of India's national mentality and history, and continues to make "unfounded accusations" about religious freedoms in India. 


    Zakharova said the reason behind the US accusations is to "unbalance the internal political situation in India and complicate the general elections."  She described the US actions as clear interference in India's internal affairs.

    Spox Maria Zakharova has said Washington lacks simple understanding of India's national mentality and history, as America continues to make "unfounded accusations" about religious freedoms. Zakharova called it disrespectful to India as a country & a state.


    "The reason [behind the US accusations] is to unbalance the internal political situation in India and complicate the general elections [...]."


    The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman added Washington's actions clearly constitute interference in India's internal affairs.”


    This comes after the latest annual report by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) criticized India for alleged violations of religious freedom. The Indian government has rejected the USCIRF report as "biased" and accused the organization of publishing "anti-India propaganda."


    The Russian official also dismissed allegations by the US that an Indian intelligence official planned to kill Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, stating that Washington has not provided any reliable evidence of Indian involvement.


    The reports indicate a growing rift between Russia and the US over India, with Russia accusing the US of interfering in India's internal affairs and elections.
