Uttarakhand : Torrential rains continued to devastate the state of Uttarakhand with reports of landslide reported from many areas. A woman was buried alive while five others still trapped in the rubble today as landslides triggered by heavy rains hit different places in the watershed area of Chuflagad, a tributary of Mandakini River in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.
The debris of landslides fell over three houses in Banjabgad and Lankhi villages in ghat area of the district on Monday morning trapping the occupants inside, as quoted by District Disaster Management Officer NK Joshi by PTI.
A body of a woman was pulled out from the rubble buy rescuers at Banjabgad while her nine month old daughter is still trapped.
Rains continue to lash the state as muddy waters are flowing indiscriminately flooding Chuflagad River. Livestocks buried as the raging river of Chuflagad swamped up cowsheds and washed away shops.
Efforts are underway to rescue people who are trapped in the rubble inside their houses and evacuate those living in the affected area to safety.
