What is Khalistani connection of Arvind Kejriwal? Delhi LG seeks NIA probe into Khalistani Funding allegations

The complaint also refers to a closed-door meeting between Kejriwal and pro-Khalistani leaders at a Gurudwara in New York

Digital Desk: The Delhi Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, has recommended a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for alleged Khalistani funding. The allegations, which the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has denied, suggest that Kejriwal received substantial political funding from the banned terror outfit 'Sikhs for Justice' (SFJ).

According to top government sources, the allegations are considered serious and in need of substantiation. The complaint, filed by Ashoo Mongia, the National General Secretary of the World Hindu Federation India, claims that Kejriwal met with pro-Khalistan groups in New York in 2014 to seek financial support, and continued to receive donations totalling $16 million until 2022, the News18 reports.

The complaint also refers to a closed-door meeting between Kejriwal and pro-Khalistani leaders at a Gurudwara in New York. The letter from Saxena mentions electronic evidence that requires forensic examination, further highlighting the need for a thorough investigation into the alleged funding and connections to banned terrorist organisations.

Reacting to the allegations, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj has labelled the NIA probe as a conspiracy orchestrated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to tarnish Kejriwal's image ahead of the elections. The situation is further complicated by Kejriwal's recent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate for alleged money laundering linked to the Delhi Excise Policy, with the Supreme Court considering interim bail amidst these allegations.
