    Drugs worth Rs 8.4 crore seized in Mizoram's Champhai district during smuggling from Myanmar

    Digital Desk: In an ongoing war against drugs, Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police in a joint operation seized heroin worth Rs 8.43 crore from Champhai district in Mizoram on Friday.

    Based on tip-offs, the raiding squad discovered hundreds of heroin-filled soap boxes after raiding a vehicle. From the boxes, a total of 1.205 kg of heroin was seized

    When the heroines were transported to Mizoram from neighboring Myanmar, the Assam Rifles and the police apprehended them in the Champai district. According to the Assam Rifles, the heroin that was seized has an estimated international market value of Rs 8.435 crore.

    However, no accused has been taken into custody in this case. The police squad is currently working to find the alleged accused in the smuggling. 

    Notably, the heroin was later handed over to the Champai police station.
