Digital desk: Leading oil palm development business 3F Oil Palm has started commercial operations at its first-of-its-kind integrated oil palm processing unit at Roing in Arunachal Pradesh, marking a significant turning point for the country's agricultural industry.

According to a statement from the corporation, this is a significant advancement for Mission Palm Oil, a government program that aims to increase domestic edible oil output and lessen dependency on imports.

The innovative processing facility can effectively transform fresh fruit bunches (FFBs) into premium palm oil with an incredible capacity of 10 metric tons per hour, it continued.

In terms of edible oils, this project represents a major step towards Atmanirbharta (self-reliance) for India, which now imports an astounding 96% of its palm oil needs.

At the Viksit Bharat – Viksit Northeast event on March 9, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi essentially launched the unit.

PM Modi underlined that Mission Palm Oil is a priority for the government, especially in the Northeast. This focus seeks to empower farmers and boost their revenue in addition to achieving self-sufficiency.

The Northeast farmers' enthusiastic participation and their commitment to palm growing since the Mission's inception were recognized by the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister received praise from Sanjay Goenka, Managing Director & CEO of 3F Oil Palm Pvt Limited, for his support and vision for Mission Palm Oil. He emphasized 3F Oil Palm's dedication to taking a leading part in the economic growth of India.

The first business in Arunachal Pradesh to supply farmers with agricultural supplies and import premium hybrid variety seed sprouts is 3F Oil Palm.

It is anticipated that these measures will greatly increase farmer yields and increase accessibility to palm cultivation. The corporation has set an ambitious goal to expand 5,000 hectares of plantation area annually over the next five years once this new processing unit is operating.
