    Digital Desk: To uplift the talents of the young footballers of Meghalaya's Ri Bhoi district and to join hands in fighting against the menace of drugs in society, the Khasi Student Union (KSU), Umsning Circle on Thursday inaugurated the Maitshaphrang Under 14 Football Tournament held at the Umsning Town Dorbar ground.

    The tourney was inaugurated by the KSU, North Khasi Hills District President Ferdynald K Kharkamni, as the chief guest in the presence of the Chairman of the Umsning Town Dorbar Rocky Kylla, the Rangbah Shnong of Umsning Proper B Rocky Marwein, the KSU general Secretary James Hitlar Mawphniang and the office bearers of the KSU, Umsning Circle.

    Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Ferdynald K Kharkamni, lauded the efforts of the Union of Umsning Circle for taking such an important step in organizing the Maitshaphrang U-14 Football Tournament as a mark to uplift the talents of the young footballers of Ri Bhoi District.

    He also said that KSU is on a mission to fight against the menace of drugs that has destroyed the future of the young generation and destroyed many families, therefore such, a platform of sporting events can lure and win away the mindsets of the young people.

    In the first match held on Thursday, the Eastern Ri Bhoi defeated Nongthymmai Sc by 1-0 which was scored by Me U Ba Ai Sumer who also won the man of the match title, while in the second match, Seng Samla Patarim defeated Laiphew Diengngan by 2-0 while the man of the match title was bagged by Korishon Shabong.
