    Khasi hills Achik Federation demands repeal of KHADC bill
    They claimed that the actions of the KHADC had hurt the feelings of the Garo people, who have lived in peace and harmony in the Khasi Hills Region for the past 18 centuries in numerous villages........

    Digital desk: The Garo community lies in the Khasi Hills region under the banner of All Khasi Hills Achik Federation (AKHAF), on Saturday, declaimed the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) for the exclusion of Headman ship of Garo residents to hold the Rangbah Shnong Post in Khasi Hills Region.

    Over 300 Garo residents attended the AKHAF-organized meeting, which was held at Nongspung A under the Pillangkata Police Outpost. The meeting was presided over by Serimina D. Marak, President of the Ri Bhoi District Women Wing; vice president Sunita Momin; and general secretary Kleden Sangma of the Ri Bhoi District unit. The Central Executive Committee was also present, including President Cliftus Ch. Marak and General Secretary Manuel Ch. Marak.

    During the meeting, Serimina D. Marak and Manuel Ch. Marak addressed the media and harshly criticized the KHADC for bringing forward the resolution or bill during the District Council meeting that called for the removal of any Garo inhabitants' Rangbah Shnong posts from villages located within the Khasi Hills region.

    Furthermore, they claimed that the actions of the KHADC had hurt the feelings of the Garo people, who have lived in peace and harmony in the Khasi Hills Region for the past 18 centuries in numerous villages. They also mentioned that at a meeting attended by numerous representatives of the Garo community, demands for state government intervention were made, and the leaders of the AKHAF also submitted a request for the Chief Minister to intervene in this matter.

    The two AKHAF leaders have also reiterated their demands that the KHADC bill be removed within a week. If the same is not done for the removal of the bill that would exclude Garo residents from holding the position of Rangbah Shnong in villages located in the Khasi Hills region, the AKHAF will take further severe action in this regard.
