Digital Desk: The Kuki Student Body has asked for an immediate flash bandh in Churachandpur district to pay honour to the martyrs of the ongoing violence.

Khupminthang Haokip (21 years) of L. Phaikholum Village, Kangvai Sub-division, the lone son of a widowed mother, was assassinated by armed miscreants while on duty at Joupi, a Kuki village.

A ceremony in this regard will be held today, for which the district has ordered an immediate shutdown.

Notably, Thangminlun Hangshing, son of Lunkhongam Hangshing of Khunkho village, and IRB personnel Henminlen Vaiphei, son of Luntinlal Vaiphei of Mission veng Leimakhong, were killed by the Valley-Based Insurgent Group in the same Kangchup area where three Kuki-Zo were killed in a previous attack on September 12.

The Committee on Tribal Unity, Sadar Hills Kangpokpi (CoTU) issued an emergency shutdown across Kangpokpi area in response to the savage ambush, requiring the closure of all business institutions and stores. Vehicle movement was prohibited for 48 hours to mourn the deaths and analyse the deteriorating situation.
