Digital Desk: The Joint Action Committee formed in connection with the missing of two teenage boys from Akham Awang Leikai in Imphal West has decided to extend their proposed "Statewide Manipur Bandh" until 1 p.m. on November 11. Earlier, the bandh was called for just one day, on November 10, from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Moirangthem Sunilkumar, a JAC representative, told the media that the decision to extend the bandh duration was made in response to the government's failure to locate two missing teenage boys who have been missing since November 5.

Manipur police apprehended two suspects and recovered their mobile phones, but the government has yet to provide any information regarding their whereabouts. The JAC, along with civil society organizations, student bodies, and the general public, will launch an intensified agitation if the government fails to locate the missing boys before the end of the bandh duration, Moirangthem Sunilkumar said.

Women and students held protests across the valley on Thursday, urging the authorities to find the missing boys.

It should be noted that the recent missing of two teenage boys is the second such incidence in violence-torn Manipur. Earlier, two young students went missing in July, and when photos of their suspected bodies went viral, intense agitation erupted in the state.
