Digital Desk: The ongoing crisis in this conflict-ridden border state Manipur reportedly cast a shadow over the nation's capital following a police report on the beating of two men and women from a Manipur group that makes up the majority.
According to footage taken on a cell phone from a balcony across the street, nine people allegedly attacked the four Manipuri Meiteis on a nighttime street in Sunlight Colony, southeast Delhi, on Thursday night.
Following the video's widespread distribution on social media around the nation, particularly in Delhi, a first information report (FIR) was submitted against the unidentified accused.
One of the male victims told the reporters that on that fatal night, at around 11 p.m., he, his wife, and his sister were on their way home from dinner with a friend when three people from a different group approached him to drop them off at Munirka in south Delhi.
Suddenly, some people attacked and severely beat them.
After submitting the FIR, the complainant informed reporters that the faces of two of the defendants were visible on CCTV footage.
Doctors at the hospital where the man was taken by police suggested that he had been seriously assaulted because of abrasions on his knees, swelling and redness in his eyes, and swelling on his forehead.
180 people have been slain and over 61 have been forced to return to their homesteads due to the state's continued conflict. On May 3, 2023, the violence broke out. It is casting a shadow over other regions of the nation where law enforcement officers are attempting to keep calm.
