Digital Desk: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga returned to cast his vote following a delay at the 19-Aizawl Venglai-I YMA Hall voting station due to a malfunctioning Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
Despite waiting, the issue couldn't be resolved, so he decided to wait to cast his vote until after breakfast.
"The device was not operating. I had been waiting for a while. As the machine is not working, I will visit my constituency and vote after breakfast," the Mizoram CM stated.
The state is seeing a hotly contested election between the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), the Zoram Peoples Movement (ZPM), the Congress, and the BJP, with approximately 8.57 lakh voters and 174 candidates in the running. Zoramthanga voiced confidence in his party and expressed hopes that they would win back at least 25 seats and restore power, pointing to their successful management of COVID-19 and developmental projects as major reasons for optimism.
