The ruling Mizo National Front of NDA partner Mizoram would support the opposition's no-confidence vote against the BJP-led government...
Digital Desk: In a recent turn, the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) is going to back the opposition's no-confidence vote against the BJP-led government at the Centre, Lok Sabha MP C Lalrosanga said on Thursday. Lalrosanga told PTI that he will support the no-confidence motion against the Manipur administration and the Centre's "failure to handle" ethnic unrest in the adjacent state.
"I will vote in favour of the opposition's no-confidence motion. It's not because I favour the Congress or wish to oppose the BJP, but to express our outrage and opposition to the government's complete inability to handle the situation, particularly in Manipur," he said.
The MNF is a member of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) in the region, as well as the NDA at the national level.
The MNF party is very concerned about the dire situation of the Zo ethnic group in conflict-torn Manipur, he stated.
Lalrosanga also stated that he discussed the matter with the party president, Mizoram's CM Zoramthanga, and other leaders and that they all agreed to support the no-confidence motion.
MNF Rajya Sabha MP K Vanlalvena, who has been outspoken on the Manipur issue, also told PTI that he will continue to speak out against the government's handling of the situation in Parliament.
According to Lalrosanga, the Lok Sabha will vote on the motion when Prime Minister Narendra Modi responds to it.
The fate of the no-confidence resolution introduced by Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on behalf of the unified opposition is apparent, as the BJP-led NDA has a majority in Lok Sabha.
Additionally, PM Modi is facing a no-confidence vote for the second time.
