Digital Desk: Tripura Police arrested three Indian touts and fourteen Bangladeshi nationals, including four minors, in a predawn raid in Sabroom, in the South district of Tripura on Sunday.
The police made the arrests in response to a report they had received, indicating the illegal crossing of the border by Bangladeshi nationals on the night of November 11.
Ashok Kumar Sinha, the superintendent of police, confirmed the arrest and disclosed that, according to the report received, the operation was executed early in the morning.
"We have detained 14 Bangladeshi nationals, among them four children, who were found taking shelter in a house near the international border," stated SP Ashok Kumar Sinha.
The fact that three Indian touts were detained by the police for allegedly helping the Bangladeshi nationals cross the border illegally further complicated the already complex scenario. The court has seen the detained individuals present, and a continuing investigation seeks to reveal the entire extent of the operation.
"The three Indian touts were encouraging the Bangladeshi nationals to cross the border illegally. We have brought them before the court, and more investigation is in progress," Superintendent Sinha confirmed.
