Speaking on the difficulties people have in medical emergencies, Dr. Saha—who is also Tripura's Health Minister—emphasized how critical it is to address the issue.
Digital Desk: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha unveiled the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (CM-JAY) on Thursday, a health insurance program that will provide coverage of Rs. 5 lakh to 4.15 lakh families in the state. This is a major step towards ensuring universal health care.
"Those who are not covered by Ayushman Bharat or any other government insurance policy are intended to benefit from the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana. This is a significant step toward ensuring that everyone has access to affordable healthcare. According to Dr. Saha, "CM-JAY is an essential step in guaranteeing health assurance for everyone, enabling beneficiaries to receive medical benefits of up to Rs. 5 lakh."
Speaking on the difficulties people have in medical emergencies, Dr. Saha—who is also Tripura's Health Minister—emphasized how critical it is to address the issue.
Dr. Saha gave an explanation of the rationale behind CM-JAY, highlighting the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which covers about 5.12 lakh people out of 9.75 lakh families in the state.
"People from all areas come to me asking for help with health-related problems. Although we do offer assistance, it was difficult to reach a 100% saturation level. We created the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana to cover about 4.15 lakh people in synchronization with PM-JAY," Dr. Saha clarified.
He stressed that providing complete medical facilities and free insurance coverage is the main goal. Now, beneficiaries can get care from public and private facilities in and out of the state. In addition, free medications will be given for a maximum of 15 days after the patient is released from the hospital.
"We have included comparable provisions here in accordance with the Prime Minister's directions. The CM-JAY-2023 plan will cover state government employees who give up their current medical benefits and reimbursement. As we work to improve Tripura's healthcare system, today is a momentous day. "Our government is still committed to providing everyone with better, high-quality healthcare," Dr. Saha added.
