Manipur: Assam Rifles Seized War-Like Stores In Joint Ops With Army, Manipur Police

Digital Desk: The Indian Army and Assam Rifles' joint operation with the Manipur Police and other security forces was a major success, recovering huge arms and ammunition from various districts of Manipur. According to reports, the forces recovered 35 weapons, ammunition, and war-like stores from the districts of Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Bishnupur, Churchandpur, Imphal West, Noney, Jiribam, and Kakching between January 19 and January 25.

Assam Rifles in a joint operation with the Indian Army and Manipur Police recovered 35 weapons including one modified sniper rifle, five 9 mm pistols, two single barrel rifles, grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores from the Bishnupur district.

In another operation, the Indian Army with the help of CRPF and Manipur Police recovered one 9mm Sub Machine gun, one .303 rifle, one pistol, one single barrel breach loaded gun, one country-made mortar, one grenade launcher, grenades, and ammunition.

Assam Rifles apprehended a cadre of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), a Meitei insurgent group from the Tengnoupal district. In another operation launched in the Noney district on January 20, Assam Rifles recovered a 9 mm country-made pistol, one .303 rifle, one improvised projectile launcher, grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores.

In a joint operation on January 23 in Thoubal district, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police recovered one country-made pistol, one single-bore country-made rifle, ten No. 36 hand grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores.

In Jiribam district, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered one carbine, one single barrel gun, grenades, and ammunition on January 23. Assam Rifles in a successful operation at Chandel district recovered one 9 mm pistol, one locally made mortar, one Improvised Explosive device, grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores on January 24.

On the same day, Assam Rifles launched an operation with Manipur Police in Imphal West district and recovered one loading rifle, one carbine machine gun, one .32 caliber country-made pistol, two 51 mm mortars, grenades and ammunition.

In Kakching district, Assam Rifles in a joint operation with Manipur Police recovered one modified .303 Sniper rifle, Airgun Rifle, grenades, and ammunitions on January 25.

In the general area of Sekmai of Imphal West district, Assam Rifles recovered one .303 rifle, one 9 mm pistol, one .32 caliber pistol, hand grenades, and ammunition.

The apprehended individuals in connection with the operations were later handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation.
