''TMC will be the main opposition in Assam," says MP Sushmita Dev

According to TMC MP Sushmita Dev, the sole manner to defeat the BJP was to create a team of like-minded parties that excluded Congress.

Digital Desk: Sushmita Dev, a TMC legislator, argued that the only option to beat the BJP was to build an alliance of like-minded parties that did not include Congress.

On Thursday, Dev opened the office of the All India Trinamool Congress's Cachar section at Park Road in Silchar. Dev told a workers' conference that the TMC's state headquarters would invariably be established in Guwahati since the party would emerge as Assam's primary opposition.

Susmita, who left the Congress a few months ago, expanded on her point, claiming that opposition politicians in Assam were fighting amongst themselves to preserve Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's good graces.

Because there is no opposition in Assam, ordinary people's misery, difficulty, and dissatisfaction cannot be addressed comprehensively and honestly in an open arena, according to Sushmita, who believes that only the TMC can fill this hole. "Be prepared for a bigger fight from now on," she gushed the workers.

The officer claimed, "At least four more Arunachal Pradesh teenagers are still in Ukraine." As a result of Ukraine's airspace being restricted since February 24 due to Russia's military incursion, India has begun evacuating its citizens through particular aircraft from Ukraine's western neighbours, such as Romania, Hungary, and Poland.

According to Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, the IAF and Indian carriers will transport 3,726 individuals from Ukraine's neighbouring countries back to India on Thursday.

When questioned by the media following the workers' meeting, Sushmita stated that a party was being organised in Cachar. Until now, the Cachar unit has received almost 7,000 membership applications. TMC had 1,028 new members as of Thursday.

The TMC did not run candidates in the current civic body election, according to Sushmita, since the party was not organised enough to field a large number of candidates. If the party continues to campaign half-heartedly, it will be blamed for dividing opposition votes.

Sushmita today made it clear that the TMC's key issue against the BJP in Assam will be the National Register of Citizens. She added that people went through a significant process to verify their citizenship, and the BJP eventually put the paperwork on hold because it didn't fit their goal.

Dr Rajdeep Roy and Dipayan Chakraborty, MP and MLA of Silchar, respectively, were singled out by Sushmita for veiled criticism, claiming that the prestigious constituency had now practically no representation in both the Lok Sabha and the Assembly.
