'The administration has kept me under house arrest', claims Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar: Former J & K Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Mehbooba Mufti informed that she is under house arrest as the administration has told her that situation is so far from normal in Kashmir.

Mufti took to Twitter and wrote, “GOI expresses concern for the rights of Afghan people but wilfully denies the same to Kashmiris. Ive been placed under house arrest today because according to admin the situation is far from normal in Kashmir. This exposes their fake claims of normalcy.”

Mufti also tweeted an image of the gate of her house and an armored truck parked nearby.

However, the administration has not yet given any official response on Mufti’s house arrest.

Police stated that Mehbooba Mufti had been requested not to visit Kulgam today for security reasons.

“As Ms Mufti is a Z+ category protectee, so we had put her under house arrest. She was only asked to not to visit today.” said a senior police officer.

Notably, the restriction comes after the death of Separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who died on Wednesday. His family alleged that police snatched his body, forcibly and buried it, and thrashed them.
