‘Slap Uddhav’: Union Minister arrested for his alleged comment against Maharashtra CM

Mumbai: Union Minister Narayan Rane was arrested on Tuesday over his derogatory comment against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Mr. Rane had allegedly said - “Will give a tight slap to Uddhav” during a public meet.

Mr. Rane failed to get a last minute pardon from the Bombay High Court, after the court rejected an urgent hearing on his petition asking for three FIRs against him to be scrapped.

Earlier, on Monday Mr. Rane during the ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ organized by the BJP for the new ministers in PM Modi’s government claimed that Mr. Thackeray forgot the year of Independence during his August 15 address which he later corrected it from his supporters.

Mr. Rane during a meeting in Raigad said, “It is very shameful that a Chief Minister doesn’t know the year of Independence during his speech on the occasion. Had I been there, I would have given him a tight slap.”

Following the comment of Mr. Rane a clash ensued between the members of the shiv sena and bjp.

The comments made by Mr. Rane has caused a furore  among the members of Shiv Sena, with FIRs filed in three cities listing non-bailable offences.

Moreover, Mr. Rane also threatened media personnel, defending his remarks and also warning the media reporting his arrest stating ‘He was not an ordinary man.’
