Lucknow: In the never-ending series of controversial statements by Bharatiya Janata Party ministers, an Uttar Pradesh minister on Thursday, surrounded himself with controversy after vindicating the Central government over the continuous hike in fuel prices.
Minister Upendra Tiwari while addressing the media in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh asserted that 95 per cent of the population don’t need petrol as few numbers of 4-5 people use four-wheelers and hence affected by the hike in fuel price.
“95 percent of people don’t use petrol as only a handful of people use four-wheelers.” said the minister.

The minister claims that BJP led central government has doubled the per capita income of the people after they came to power.
“After formation of Modi Ji and Yogi Ji's government, per capita income has more than doubled.”
Further, highlighting the contribution of BJP government towards the society Tiwari stated, “BJP government is providing free food, free electricity, free education and even free covid vaccine to the people, what else the government has to do now.”
Interestingly, the statement from the BJP minister comes at a time when the whole nation is fighting with price hikes including a hike in fuel prices. The rising level of fuel prices impacts all the countrymen as it leads to the increase in prices of all commodities including food grains, cooking gas and other essential commodities.
Reportedly, petrol and diesel prices on Thursday rose to the highest-ever level across the country. Currently, in the national capital price of petrol is Rs. 106.54 per litre and diesel is Rs. 95.27 per litre. In Mumbai, the price of petrol is Rs.112.44 per litre, while the diesel will cost you Rs. 103.26 per litre.
