Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched one of his strongest attacks on the opposition, claiming that they are only concerned with family and not with the nation. "Family comes first for them; the nation comes last. Their motivation is corruption. "The bigger the scam, the more corrupt the person, the higher their seat at the table," PM Modi said while inaugurating a new terminal at Port Blair's Veer Savarkar airport.
"Democracy means 'of the people, by the people, for the people. However, the Opposition's slogan is "of the family, by the family, for the family," he added.
The attack comes as 26 opposition groups meet in Bengaluru to plan a strategy to take on the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
PM Modi described the ongoing Opposition conclave as a meeting of "hardcore corrupts."
"People are saying that the purpose of this gathering is to promote corruption. Despite corruption allegations in Tamil Nadu, the opposition parties have given the DMK a clean chit. Despite attacks on their cadre, the Left and the Congress have remained silent on panchayat poll violence in West Bengal," the Prime Minister said.
"They (opposition parties) are not concerned with the development of the country's poor children. Their common minimal program is to increase corruption for their family. Democracy means "of the people, by the people, for the people. However, the slogan of these dynastic parties is "of the family, by the family, for the family. The nation means nothing to them; their family comes first," the PM said.
The new building that the PM inaugurated at Port Blair, built at a cost of roughly Rs 710 crore, will boost the island's connectivity. With a total built-up area of over 40,800 sq m, the new terminal building would be able to manage approximately 50 lakh passengers per year.
The building is built like a shell, representing the natural environment of the islands.
The entire station will have 100% natural lighting 12 hours a day, which will be achieved through skylights on the roof.
