Digital Desk: As counting continues for the election results, Congress has taken a commanding early lead in Telangana and has already passed the halfway mark. It is noteworthy that K Chandrasekhar Rao, the chief minister of Telangana, is trailing in the Kamareddy seat.
BRS MP K Keshava Rao stated that he would not discuss numbers now, after the early trends show Congress's dominance, "I will not get into the figures now because I would not undermine the surveys. You have your own studies, I have mine. As far as the surveys are concerned, you have given Congress a lead. But as per my studies, we have a comfortable majority to get into power. Congress is fighting a lone battle. They have no supporters. They have to get the seats all by themselves. But, BJP and AIMIM are sure to support us in case of need."
He says, "We have to commend Congress on their lead. This is not a lighthearted situation. They've performed admirably. They have risen, and we are falling. Given what the statistics indicate, this must be acknowledged. Regarding keeping those things hidden, there is no doubt."
On November 30, the state had a single round of voting in which over 71% of voters cast ballots. The majority of exit polls, such as India Today-Axis My India, indicate that the Congress party is ahead of the state's ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
Among the candidates who contested the election are state Congress chief A Revanth Reddy and Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The ruling BRS is expected to get 34–44 seats, while the Congress is predicted to win 63–73 seats.
It would be worthwhile to see if Congress can force the BRS from power and destroy its aspirations of establishing a government for a record third term would be interesting.
