Guwahati : Over 2.19 crore electors from Assam alone will decide the fate of the 116 election candidates in Assam in the ensuing Lok Sabha Elections.
The polling will be held in three phases in Assam – April 11th, 18th and 23rd, 2019 and the result of the election will be declared on May 23rd, 2019.
The first phase will cover five Lok Sabha constituencies – Tezpur (9), Kaliabor (11), Jorhat (12), Dibrugarh (13) and Lakhimpur (14).
On the other hand, the second phase will cover another five constituencies –Karimganj (SC) (1), Silcahr (2), Autonomous District (ST) (3), Mangaldoi (8) and Nagaon (10) while the third phase will cover Dhubri (4), Kokrajhar (ST) (5), Barpeta (6) and Gauhati (7).
A total of 28,143 polling stations will be there in Assam. Out of 21,991,112 electors, 11,235,129 are male, 10,755,492 are female and 491 are third gender electors who will exercise franchise in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Te BJP led alliance would contest 10 Lok Sabha seats while the AGO will get three seats – Kaliabor, Barpeta and Dhubri – and the BPF would contest kokrajhar sea. The AIUDF, led by perfume baron-turned-politician Badruddin Ajmal, will field candidates only on Dhubri, karimganj and Barpeta.
