Digital Desk: Delhi has kicked off its crucial 2025 assembly elections with single-phase voting process across all 70 constituencies. Today, election polls opened at 7 a.m. and will continue until 6 p.m. The Delhi elections remain an important electoral battle as the AAP fights for its third straight victory yet both the BJP and Congress try to recover from past election losses. This Election Day will see 1.56 crore voters participate by utilizing 2,696 polling locations within 13,766 election sites across Delhi.
The governments of Delhi UP and Haryana declared paid holidays for both their public servants and private employees to increase voter turnout for the Election Day. The current voter turnout rate is 8.10% while the 2020 Assembly elections brought a 62.59% voter turnout and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections saw a 56% turnout.
The current voting percentage reaches 8.10% at 9:30 a.m. indicating an optimistic beginning. The voting rate in Mustafabad stands out at 12.43% although Chandni Chowk shows the lowest voter participation at 4.53%. Today's voter turnout holds significant importance for shaping the upcoming political future of Delhi because of its critical importance.
