color:black;mso-themecolor:text1">Digital Desk: Yashwant Sinha, the presidential candidate
for the opposition, claimed on Wednesday that if elected, he will prohibit the
Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) from being put into effect.

color:black">Interacting with opposition members from Assam, Sinha claimed that
the CAA has not yet been implemented since it was "foolishly
prepared" in a rush by the BJP-led administration.

color:black">The government sought to implement the Act throughout the nation but has not been able to do so as of yet. "Citizenship is a huge issue for
    Assam," he said.

color:black">Even today, he claimed, "they have not been able to implement
it because it is an Act poorly crafted in haste," notwithstanding the
administration's prior use of COVID as justification.

color:black">Sinha claimed that persons in positions of power rather than any
outside force were endangering the Constitution.

color:black">This presidential race is particularly important because it is a
battle to save the Constitution, he said.

color:black">He declared, "I will make sure that CAA is not implemented if
    I am in Rashtrapati Bhavan.

    Sinha claimed that in
2018, he was forced to resign from the BJP after realizing that the group's
current leadership had chosen "a completely erroneous" course.

color:black">Later, when addressing reporters, he claimed that the ruling
party and its administration were undermining all national institutions.

color:black">In order to target opposition leaders, orchestrate defections, and
overthrow opposition-run state governments, he stated, "Agencies like the
ED, CBI, Income Tax department, and even the governor's offices are being
    employed."

    The purpose of the ruling
party, he claimed, is to turn democratic India into a copy of communist China.
"The ruling party has embarked on a diabolical design to communally
polarise India's multifaith society," he stated.

color:black">Sinha expressed his disappointment that Droupadi Murmu, the NDA's
presidential nominee, has failed to hold a news conference.

color:black">"People are unaware of her values. Although I have a lot of
respect for Droupadi Murmu personally, this election is not about individuals
or their identities but rather their dedication to the Constitution " he said.

    Former Union minister
Sinha stated that due to time restrictions, he was unable to visit all of the
Northeastern states. As a result, he was pleading with the parliamentarians of
those states from Guwahati to listen to their consciences and cast thoughtful
    votes.

After the meeting, Rajya Sabha Independent MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan
claimed Sinha was the best candidate for the presidency because of his in-depth
    knowledge of the nation.

Akhil Gogoi, an MLA, declared that the democracy is under great
danger and that he has decided to back Sinha.

According to CPI(M) MLA Manoranjan Talukdar, "The BJP has
brought the nation to the verge of extinction. Whether we prevail or not, we
    shall fight.
