Guwahati : A high level meeting is scheduled to take place on March 12th, 2019 just few days before the Lok Sabha elections in New Delhi where senior Assam and Northeast BJP leaders will be participating in the meeting.
After breaking alliance with BJP, AGP announced the formation of a nine member committee to chart out plans for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls.
The BJP’s Assam Unit is against the formation of the alliance though the Central BJP leaders want to go ahead with the alliance as per information.

On March 5th, 2019, a meeting of the party manifesto committee of the AGP was held in Guwahati. Issues like unemployment, National Register of Citizens, Assam Accord, flood, farmers’ distress and other major issues would be highlighted in the party’s manifesto for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
The AGP had pulled out of the alliance with the BJP in January 2019 – a day before the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 was passed in Lok Sabha. The Assam’s regional party said the Bill violated the Assam Accord of 1985.
The Lok Sabha polls in the eight northeastern states will be held in three phases in April – 11, 18 and 23rd. While polling in Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim will be held in a single phase, polling in Manipur and Tripura will be held in two phases and polling in Assam will be held in three phases.
