    Parliament monsoon session: Rajya Sabha suspends 19 oppn MPs over ‘misconduct’
    TMC leader Derek O'Brien responded to the development by saying, "Modi and Shah have halted democracy... what are you talking about MPs?"

    Digital Desk: The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday suspended 19 opposition MPs till Friday for "misconduct" by entering the well of the House and raising slogans during the monsoon session of Parliament. 

    The Upper House was adjourned for 60 minutes after that, as suspended MPs didn't leave the House and continued their protest against price rises and inflation.



    Sushmita Dev, Santanu Sen, and Dola Sen of the TMC are among the MPs who have been suspended, along with Mausam Noor, Shanta Chhetri, Abhi Ranjan Biswar, Md Nadimul Haque, M Hamamed Abdulla, B Ligaiah Yadav, A A rahim, Ravihandra Vaddiraju, S Kalyanasundaram, R Girranjan, N R El.

    TMC leader Derek O'Brien responded to the development by saying, "Modi and Shah have halted democracy... what are you talking about MPs?"

    The Opposition raised "rollback GST" slogans, which caused a commotion in the Rajya Sabha. "I want to inform the members who are clapping and shouting while standing in the House well that this is not allowed. Go back to your seats, please. The entire country could see how you were preventing the House from working, the Rajya Sabha's deputy chairman, Harivansh Narayan Singh, said.

    Parliament's monsoon session is mostly marked by interruptions and adjournments. Since the monsoon session started on July 18, neither the Lok Sabha nor the Rajya Sabha has completed any significant business.
