DiGITAL DESK: For the flood relief efforts in Assam, the
Maharashtra Shiv Sena MLAs in rebellion have donated Rs 51 lakh. The main
opposition party in Assam, the Congress party, has previously reacted strongly
against the Sena dissidents. The Grand Old Party ridiculed the rebels by
claiming that the Maharashtra legislators were camped out at a posh hotel in
Guwahati while some areas of Assam were being devastated by severe rains.
background:#F8F9FA">According to APCC President Bhupen Borah, the Shiv Sena
MLAs have been the centre of attention, which has distracted attention away
from the horrific flood situation in Assam.
background:#F8F9FA">However, Deepak Kesarkar, the rebel MLAs' spokesperson,
defended them by claiming that Eknath Shinde had donated Rs 51 lakh to the
Assam Chief Minister's Relief Fund in order to aid in the current rescue
efforts and that it was impossible to ignore the situation of the affected
people.
background:#F8F9FA">As Maharashtra Governor B S Koshyari demanded the Uddhav
Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) administration to take a floor test on
June 30, Kesarkar added that the dissident MLAs have planned to leave Guwahati
and relocate to a location close to Mumbai on June 29.

out in a hotel in Goa, according to a close Shinde aide, and will arrive in
Mumbai around 9.30 am on June 30. "We'll be staying somewhere an hour's
flight from Mumbai so that we can easily travel to the state capital for the

pleading with the party's leader and chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray, to break
with the NCP and Congress (allies in the government), but their pleas had gone
unheard and Thackeray had never listened. The rebel MLAs were completely upset
with Uddhav as a result of this, and they disapproved of the MVA coalition, or
what they called the "unholy partnership," as they put it. The
remaining Shiv Sena lawmakers will be required to follow our whip during the
floor test, Kesarkar informed the media, "as the majority of Shiv Sena
MLAs elected to leave these two parties."
He
continued, "Thackeray can certainly give certain orders, but when we are
in the House, we are obligated by the Constitution of the country."
