    The chief ministers of Mizoram and Assam will meet in Delhi today to discuss the border dispute.

    Sarma will meet in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss efforts to resolve the two
    states' border dispute.

    place on Monday, but it was pushed back because Sarma needed to return to
    Assam. In November of last year, the two leaders met in New Delhi in the
    presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and agreed to form panels of
    stakeholders to resolve the dispute and hold chief minister-level talks.

    department official, the next round of ministerial talks between the two
    states, scheduled for next month in Guwahati, has yet to be finalised. He
    stated that the matter will be discussed when Mizoram home minister
    Lalchamliana returns from a medical leave.

    Bora met in Aizawl on August 9, a year after the two sides held the first round
    of talks to resolve the dispute in August last year. They agreed to keep the
    border peaceful and to meet again in Guwahati in October. Three virtual
    meetings have also taken place between the two parties.

    Mizoram and Assam share a 164.6-kilometer border. The two
    states' border dispute dates back to the colonial era.



    In July of last year, police forces from the two states
    exchanged fire along the disputed border, killing six police officers and an
    Assamese civilian, prompting the Centre's intervention.
